| John Easdale of
Dramarama recently called Dennis “The Menace”
Scheyer a “legendary radio d.j.” Dennis
paid him a lot of money to say that.
The story goes something like this. At the tender
age of 13, Dennis the Menace auditioned for and
was given his very own “Top 25” show
on the first cable radio station in the U.S. (His
parents drove him to the station!) Soon after, he
was written up in the local newspaper as “New
York’s Youngest D.J.” and that was the
beginning what is now 35 years on the radio!
Since then, he has been a radio air personality
and club d.j. in New York, Florida, and co-host
of “Music Scene” on KISS-108, Boston
and now a host of two specialty shows on KUSF, San
Francisco. He interviewed bands like Talking Heads
for for “The Rolling Stone Continuous History
of Rock and Roll” before leaving college (and
to this day considers his regular conversations
with rock and rollers of note one of the most joyous
parts of his life - only second to his daughter
Kate). When he’s not on the radio, he is the
President and Creative Director of a well-known
San Francisco ad agency and is in the throes of
directing/producing a documentary film. And yes,
he sleeps.

“Meet Rockland’s Youngest DeeJay.”

“Specialty radio shows grab loyal listeners.”
